The inception of the Adamawa State Urban and Regional Planning Board dates back to the defunct Gongola State, established by Edict No. 12 of 1986 as the Gongola State Urban Planning and Development Board, Yola [GSUPDA].
Following the creation of Adamawa State in 1991, the board underwent a name change to become the Adamawa State Urban Planning and Development Board [ASUPDB].
The current legal framework, the Adamawa State Urban and Regional Planning Law (ADS Law No.3 of 2010), designates the board as the Adamawa State Urban and Regional Planning Board [ASURPB], introducing new departments and merging and renaming existing ones in accordance with the provisions of the law..
The primary mandate of ASUPDA is to oversee Urban Planning and Development Control within the Designated Urban Areas of Adamawa State.
